So, it was with some shame that I gave in to my basest techno-lust and plunked down my credit card to get the Kindle.īut the reason I bought the Kindle is because I wanted to continue drinking the Amazon Kool-Aid, to put it bluntly. I installed the Google Play Store on it, and almost everything runs fine on it, including app purchases. I also own an HP TouchPad (you know, that thing that runs webOS), but I configured it to run Android (Ice Cream Sandwich – thanks, CyanogenMod!). Tech writer Paul Thurrott seems to be befuddled by this device (or confused about the target audience), so let me elucidate. I recently acquired the 64GB 7″ Kindle Fire HDX from Amazon, and I no longer feel guilty about it.
